Filming the Beginning of the Short Film

All week I have been planning to film today and of course everything went south. This morning when I woke up it was very gloomy and dark outside, which means I already knew my lighting was going to be off. I also couldn't start in the morning because one of my actors (my mom) went to church and I had to wait for her to get home. While I was waiting for her to get back, I figured I should get my sister ready to do her part for the movie. But when I went to talk to her she said she was sick and not feeling well. This whole week she wasn't sick, but right when its time to film she wants to be sick. She was literally being so stubborn. Thats why I made sure, before I wrote the whole movie about her, that she really wanted to do it. And of course now she doesn't want to do it anymore. She honestly has no choice now, because she initially commited to the job she has to now follow through with her agreement. But after all of the convincing, she finally wanted to cooperate and help me out. Today we filmed the very beginning of the short film, the bible study part. The original plan for the bible study part was to do it in a different room, but I realized that the room didn't consist of the appropriate lighting. Because my sister was so "sick" she was acting like she didn't want to do it. The whole time we had to conitnue to pursaude her to continue to film. But eventually we got the scene finsihed and we moved on to the next scene. The next scene we filmed was of my sister getting dressed to go out. It was kind of hard because it required her to change clothes, which took forever for us to convince her to do. Since we had to do the scene in her room we had to make sure it was presented properly, which took more time. In that same scene we had to have someone call her phone to get the plot of someone calling her. So I had to call my cousin to tell her what to say for the scene. I honestly didn't even watch I filmed today back. But I will tonight.

Filming More of my Short Film

 Today was my actual start of filming. It honestly was way harder than I thought because the weather was so bad. When I woke up this morning it was dark and cloudy and I had to wait till the middle of the day so the sky can clear up. Even though the scenes I filmed today wasn't outside, still needed clear natural light. I was shocked that it even rained because we haven't gotten rain in a while. Like I said in my previous blogs, I'm kind of starting slow because all of my actors are busy with other things they have to do. So today I started with the one of the beginning scenes of the movie. I started with the scene of main character getting ready to go out. My actor was so stubborn and it took forever just to get what we filmed today. Just to prevent this problem, I asked her before I started this project if she was sure that she wanted to do this and she said yes. This is literally why I said that last time I didn't want to work with my family. They honestly don't understand how important projects are and its honestly so annoying. Now that I'm thinking about it, I definetlyfilmed the wrong scene today. I definetly going to have to fix thar. I was thinking the scene I filmed today was the beginning when it wasn't. The beginning of the movie is the scene when they are having bible study. But I did get one good scene of her starting to get dressed. But now I know that having the storyboard on hand

while filming is essential, so that I won't make that mistake again. I don't know what I was thinking not having my storyboard with me because I usually have it with every project. 

Starting to Film the Movie

 Today I thought since I had some extra time today I would start some of the filming. I'm not doing the big scenes, I'm starting with some of the simple stuff. All I did was some of the stock shots like the one of the house and some of the cars. I also did a run through of my plan for the movie. And I know your probably wondering why didn't just start filming. It's because all of actors are busy today.My main character is at school today and she was slumped in work. My supporting character is also busy working today. As the director of the movie I'm also pretty busy with all the rest of my schoolwork. Thats also another reason why I wanted to start off slow and ease our way into it. I know that when I start filming, its not going to take that long. I'm also taking this day to plan on my filming process so that the process can go smoother. Making a plan can make this process faster and can make it easier. That's why I appreciate all the planning we have to do in preparation for our final project. The planning process helped me learn lots of new things like the different geners and lots of other short films to help us out with our movie. I know I say this on every blog, but I am very exicited to get started. Matter of a fact, this is my start. So I guess I can say that I'm exicited to continue this filming process. This weekend I think I'm going to progress even more and get more scenes finished. I say the weekend because thats when everybodies here and everybody will be off. I forgot to also say, when I was filming my house for the stock shots, the cars continued to come down my street. It's the weirdest thing because the whole time I wwas inside there were barely any cars that passed by, but the right when I get outside it's a bunch of cars coming down my street. I really hate when that happens. 

Updating the Websites

 The last time I blogged I stated that I will be updating my websites to make it more appealing. Today I went on all the social media accounts and added profile pictures to make it more appealing. At first I did have a banner for the twitter page but it was kind of getting annoying to look at. It was kind of loud with blues and purples and it just wasn't as professional as I wanted it to be. So I took that one down and made a new one. I made it on google docs and took a screenshot and uploaded it on all my accounts as a profile picture. Next up I'm going to work on banner to add to all the accounts. It might be a little challenging because the way I'm doing it, it has to be shaped perfectly. I think I'm going keep the banner just as plain. I'm going to keep it black and white to match the profile to give a more professional look. That was also one of the reasons I deleted the old one I had. On the Instagram account I added a bio talking about what the page is about and why there is even a page. I also added the wix website to the bio of the Instagram account. I was also planning to add updates to the media accounts like that I'm starting to film soon. When I made the profile picture it took like two seconds for me to add it in to all the social medias. It was almost like it was a copy  and paste for all fo them. Adding the profile picture to the Youtube honestly took the longest because it was kind of complicated trying to locate all the settings. But once I found the right tab it was very quick. To keep the media acoounts updated I want to add little tidbits of what I'm doing to get to the end of the project.

The Start of the Short Film

 Now that we have completed most of the planning for the short film, its almost time to get started. So now that we are getting closer, today I made a website. Because this was my first time ever making a website, it was a few bumps in the road. For starters, I knew that I would have make the accounts so that I am able to put the links on the website. It was almost impossible to make an instagram on  my computer. But I did start with making a Facebook. Personally I don't use Facebook at all.  But I do have a Facebook. The only reason I have a Facebook was because of the live tour I bought. Since I don't use that account at all, I thought it would be easier to change that account into my movie premiere account. After I finished the Facebook account, I started making the Instagram account. When I was trying to sign up, it kept saying "you can't log in". I kept thinking I did something wrong with the log in but it was just the computer. So I figured it would be easier to just make an account off of my phone. And you guessed it, it worked. Making the account on my phone took like two seconds. After I made the account, I logged back in on my labtop and everything started to go smoothly. Also when I was making the instagram account I was adding my personal email to the log in page. Because the instagram page said even though its a buisness page put your personal email. Because I kept putting my personal email, it continued to make the username based off my username. Even though, I knew it would be hard, I knew I had to make a whole new email. It honestly wasn't that hard to make the new gmail, it was very quick. I think that in a couple days I'm going to start making all of social media accounts pretty and more informational. Storyboard for Short Film

 First I would like to start by saying I am not a drawer. If I wasn't the writer of this movie I wouldn't know what I was drawing. I don't know why, but this was so hard draw. I feel like the last project I storyboarded wasn't as hard as this one. I feel like my scenes were harder to draw as well. I think I can only say that cause I didn't have to draw that many squares. I am going to be honest, I don't think I drew all of the squares I was supposed to because I forgot the time for each square. I think that I'm supposed to have more squares than I have now. I secondly would like to appologize to anyone who has to read my storyboard because I know I can't draw. I think in my very first project for last year I said that storyboarding was my favorite part, but now I know its definetly not. Luckily the storyboard paper includes the description box because it would've been real hard to know whats going on. I'm honeslty exicited to move on from this part of the project because it means we are closer to filming and and editing. I've decided on a name on the movie, "Playing Both Sides", because it was about a religious girl liivng in an world full of temptations. In the movie we see her live both her different lives, the one she lives with her parents and the one she lives with her friends. I know I was going back and forth with my storyline but I know this one is going to be great. I think this movie will be harder to film because I know I'm going to want it to be really technical but since I not a professtional its probably not going to end like I want it to. Which doesn't mean all the way bad, but just nit the best quality. 

Planning For My Short Film

Its so much gonig on in the world, its great to be able to focus on projects like this to take my mind off of things. My schedule for the filming and editing process for this movie will get kind of hectic with all the events happening. After my storyboard is finished , I'm sure it will be expected for me to start filming. I will start filming on the 14th and end on the 18th. But that schedule might be hard to follow because I have a lot planned on those days. So my backup schedule will be to film from the 23rd to the 30th. I wasn't going to film from the 19th to the 22nd because I'm going to be out of town for my birthday. But I think it will be cool to maybe get some footage from the vaction house. I tried to make this movie as simple as possible so that it can reduce the locations I would have to film at. I haven't decided which house I'm going to use for my film, its between my house or my aunties house. But I'm now considering to film at the house on my vacation because it will add a more flavor to the short film. I'm not sure if a car is considered a location but I do plan on doing a scene in a car. Just like last year, my participants will be my family again. I know last year I said I'll never work with them again but I think this time will be alot better. Mostly because thier parts are very minimal this time. In this time, the health and safety part of the planning is most important because of covid. When the actors are going out they will have mask and when the participants are in the cars they will have on seatbelts. Some of the props I will use in the movie is a cellphone, mask, and a bible. The costumes for this movie are very minimal. The actors will wear regular everyday clothes and party clothes. One specific costume that is picked out is the large coat.
