Short Film vs. Feature Film

 From watching both the short film and the feature film their was a lot of differences between the two. In the short film there was no diaglogue at all. But it did have a lot of sound effects that helped the audience see whats happening without the use of dialogue. I thought it wasn't going to be any diaglogue in the feature film but when the 2 character came in the scene he was talking. In the short film it was only one monster but in the feature film so many monsters. The feature film showed how all of the characters were all made and why the scenery was the way it was. In the short film we didn't know where they were or even why they were there. The feature film had many different locations and it showed it being a whole town where they were instead of being just one room. The feature film also showed the origin of the monsters, but I still didn't understand why the monsters wanted to kill the dolls. One of the most known differences between the short film and the feature film is the amount of characters in the film. In the short film it was only the two characters and the one monster but in the feature film it was 9 characters and the many many monsters it was. Adding characters to the feauture film helped add more "meat" to the movie. It added to the storyline so the director could fill in the storyline and give us more back story. The characters helped fill in those gaps in the short film that left us wondering why. Like why is he called 9, or why can't they talk? It was a bunch of questions answered in the feature film that wasn't answered in the short film. This assignment really helped me learn alot about creative an effective short film. Like less characters helps keep a storyline short and sweet, and it also helps reduce the need for a lot of character development.
