Title Research: The Terminator

  1. How many titles are displayed during the opening sequences to the film? In the opening sequence there were about 16 different titles. It was only 16 because I didn't count each actors name, I counted all the actors names as one title.
  2. What images are prioritized in the opening sequences? The images that are prioritized during the opening sequences are the spaceships shooting their lasers. They also show a work vehicle rolling over skulls.
  3. What connotations do the images carry? These images carry a negative connotation. Because it shows someone shooting and someone purposely rolling over someone.
  4. How is genre reinforced through symbolic and technical codes from the outset?  The skulls show the unexpected part of the movie that gives the audience a sense of thriller. The fact that the location was on an unknown battlefield creates a sense of suspension.
  5. How does the film establish the enigma from the outset? The establish the enigma through the part of the tractor running over the skulls and them being in an unknown place in the dark.
  6. What strategies are used to ensure the film appeals to its target audience? Since the movie is very old the audience were usually generation x, which is our parents at our age now. This movie used the used mystery to appeal to their audience. The unknown is a good way to appeal to their audience because they enjoy the unexpected.
  7. How has technology been used effectively? They used their editing tool to show the different areas of their location. They used low angles in order to hear the crushing of the skulls to enhance the suspension of the film. They used their technology to clarify the genre to their audience.
