Title Research: Get Out

  1. How many titles are displayed in the opening sequences to the film? There is about 17 titles that are displayed during the opening sequences of the film.
  2. What images are prioritized in the opening sequence? In the opening sequence they prioritized an image is someone loading their car and driving off, a forest, a pregnant black person, and a dog barking connected to a chain.
  3. What connotations do the images carry? The connotation these images carry is a negative. They make people feel like the movie is going to be talking about the negatives of those communities.
  4. How is genre reinforced through symbolic and technical codes from the outset? The genre of this movie is reinforced by the images because it gives the audience a sense of suspicion but it also makes us feel that something suspicious is going to happen. In the outset it had suspenseful movie to add to the thriller genre of unexpectedness. The way the outset went from regular color to black and white creates a change of mood which makes up a thriller film.
  5. How does the film establish in enigma from the outset? The film creates an enigma by showing a man obviously traveling but then it begins to show black and white images that throws the audience by surprise. 
  6. What strategies are used to ensure the film appeals to its target audience? The strategies they used for this movie to target their audience are usually an ambient sound that creates the mood for the beginning scene. Their audience is usually generation Z and this generation is really big on the unknown and the unexpected. 
  7. How has technology been used effectively? In the outset they used camera angle, shots, movements, and also editing tools to enforce the genre. The camera angles and shots all work together add to the tone of the movie. The editing enhances the scene of the movie and also adds to the genre.
